Bordetella, also known as kennel cough is a highly contagious upper respiratory infection. Bordetella can occur alone or in conjunction with Canine Distemper or Canine Parainfluenza. Many people think Kennel Cough is only a risk if the dog stays at a boarding facility.
This is a misconception. Kennel Cough is an air-borne virus that is transmitted the same as any other air-borne virus. Your dog only needs to be in the vicinity of an infected dog to be at risk. This includes pet stores, parks, grooming facilities, and even routine visits to the vet.
