Dr. Hartman was born and raised in Chesterfield County. As soon as she was old enough to work, she snagged a job at a local pet hospital. After high school, she was accepted into her dream college, Virginia Tech, where she majored in Animal and Poultry Sciences with an emphasis on Livestock Production.
After graduation, she was accepted into the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech, graduating in 2008 with her DVM and an emphasis in Small Animal Medicine.
Dr. Hartman practiced for three years in Fredericksburg before moving back to the Richmond area. She has been practicing in Richmond since 2012, and we are thrilled that she joined Mechanicsville Animal Hospital in 2015.
Soft-tissue surgery is one of Dr. Hartman’s favorite medical aspects of her job. For her, there is nothing more gratifying than bringing a patient back from the brink with a life-saving surgery.
Dr. Hartman lives in Chesterfield with her husband Jeff, their dogs Roxie and BooBoo, and their cats Piccolo and Joker. In her free time, Dr. Hartman enjoys knitting, hula hooping, and playing video games. She’s also fluent in French and will speak it with anyone willing to indulge her.
